Me and Pauly
My Merly got bronze in the doggy Olympics. Not bad for a ten year old collie with arthritis and a heart defect.
Sulky thinks he’s a chicken.
This is sulky, he’s a Bengal eagle owl who lives at the Barn Owl Bill Charitable Trust, the charity I work for. He has a few strange quirks including autism and only having one eye….. Oh and he thinks he’s a chicken!
Don’t worry though, he is healthy and well and will live out the remainder of his days with the trust.
I don’t own them. I work for an owl sanctuary (The Barn Owl Bill Charitable Trust). We rescue birds of prey and release them once they’re well. If we can’t release them (either because they were bred in captivity or because their injuries are too severe), then they have a home for life with us. You can buy them as pets but I would strongly discourage it. They really don’t make good pets. They can be very aggressive when not handled properly, and believe me, they can do some damage when they’re having a tantrum. More and more of our resident birds are unwanted pets who have been bought by inexperienced people, who then get bitten or scratched (or worse) and no longer want them. If you want to get close to these beautiful birds, I would suggest doing what I do and finding a bird of prey sanctuary to volunteer at where you will recieve the necessary training to look after birds of prey and help a good cause at the same time.
